The National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) is leading WaysTUP! PILOT 5: Biosolvents.
Source-separated bio-waste from households provided by Sustainable City Network will be used to produce ethanol through a combination of sustainable processes including drying as a first step followed by enzymatic hydrolysis. The application of drying in bio-waste will ensure both the production of a high-quality raw material that can be easily stored and handled and the preservation of the main structural polysaccharides and organic compounds for a long time due to microbial inactivation and low moisture content.
