WaysTUP! was presented at the “Innovative technologies for sustainable management of urban and industrial waste streams” online workshop, by our partner IMECAL.
Caterina Coll Lozano, Chief Operating Officer and Innovation Manager of IMECAL took part in Section IV entitled “Biological Valorization of urban biowastes” and presented “PERSEO Biorefinery: URBAN Biorefinery Model” where WaysTUP! was introduced.
The workshop was held online on the 17th and 18th of December 2020. Its main focus was the need to develop sustainable and innovative technologies for the treatment of biowastes produced from various industries, municipal activities and wastewater treatment units. Integration of waste treatment technologies based on biorefinery concept within the Circular Economy is essential to transform biowastes into value-added products such as biopolymers, bio-hydrogen, biogas, bioactive compounds, chemical building blocks and materials.
